Active Listening Training
With Tel-Aide Montréal, you will learn the art of listening actively to those who need to talk. You will see how your presence and listening can make all the difference.
24 hours of training
In-class training, practical sessions, and exercises.
20 hours of accompanied listening
Accompanied listening sessions and solo listening shifts help practise and prepare the new listener.
Continuing Education
Sharing meetings and support for volunteers.

Deposit and Registration for Training
A deposit of $170 is required upon registration ($150 refundable, $20 non-refundable for the manual). Payment in multiple instalments is possible. We are committed to being inclusive and accessible to all; please feel comfortable sharing your needs with the recruitment team.

To become a volunteer at Tel-Aide Montréal, it is essential to have openness and empathy. The ability to listen without judgment and to respect confidentiality is also crucial. No prior experience in active listening or mental health is required, as Tel-Aide provides comprehensive training to its new volunteers.
Volunteering with Tel-Aide Montréal requires a minimum commitment of 96 hours during the first year, which averages to approximately 2 hours per week.
Volunteers commit to a regular weekly shift, scheduled according to their availability and Tel-Aide Montréal’s operational needs. This schedule is established in collaboration with each volunteer to ensure consistent support for the people who rely on our services.
This commitment continues beyond the first year, subject to the volunteer’s availability and the organization’s needs.

Yes! It is possible to volunteer remotely with Tel-Aide Montréal. After completing their training, volunteers can provide active listening support from home during their scheduled shifts.
