Tel-Aide Montreal is a non-profit organization that offers an active listening service that is anonymous and confidential for individuals in need of someone to talk to or share their emotions with. Our trained volunteer listeners are equipped to listen, support, and help callers navigate difficult moments, crises, or periods of loneliness. Tel-Aide Montreal provides a general listening service available in both French and English to assist individuals in coping with everyday challenges.
Active listening is a an empathetic communication technique that aims to understand, without judgment or advice, the feelings and concerns of the speaker. At Tel-Aide Montréal, volunteer listeners pay close attention, ask open-ended questions, and respond with empathy, allowing the caller to express themselves freely and to feel heard. This type of listening creates a safe space where the caller can explore their thoughts and emotions.
Tel-Aide Montreal provides a free active listening service by phone, accessible to anyone who feels the need to talk. Our trained volunteer listeners offer empathetic, non-judgmental support in a safe and confidential environment. This service is available to discuss a wide range of topics, from stress and anxiety to loneliness and personal crises. Additionally, Tel-Aide Montreal offers services for private residences for seniors and welcomes student interns.
