Meet Our Three Finalists: 2026 Janette-Bertrand Wellness Award!
Volunteering often begins with recognizing a need and choosing to act. Linda Bambonye, Manon Barbe and Brenda Kwan, our three finalists for the 2026 Janette-Bertrand Wellness Award, show the difference that commitment can make.
Whether supporting people living with Parkinson’s disease, people nearing the end of life, seniors or newcomers, each helps build a more caring and connected community.
An Award That Carries Forward Janette Bertrand’s Legacy

For 25 years, Janette Bertrand championed Tel-Aide Montréal’s mission as its spokesperson before handing over the role to Julie Bélanger a few years ago. Through her listening, compassion and commitment to giving others a voice, she helped open conversations about experiences too often faced in silence.
The Janette-Bertrand Wellness Award carries forward this legacy. It recognizes volunteer contributions that support the well-being of others and reflect the values of listening, mutual support and compassion at the heart of our mission.

Linda Bambonye

For the past 13 years, Linda Bambonye has been a dedicated volunteer with Parkinson Montréal-Laval.
Drawing on her expertise in health care, she helps build partnerships that provide adapted physical activities and support for caregivers and people newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. She also supports staff teams and new board members and served on Parkinson Québec’s board of directors for six years.
A unifying force helping shape a more compassionate world.
Manon Barbe

After 13 years of volunteer work championing the project, Manon Barbe founded the Maison de soins palliatifs Sault-Saint-Louis to meet a pressing need in her community.
The hospice opened its doors in 2025. Now chair of the Foundation’s board of directors, she remains committed to providing free, compassionate end-of-life care and support for residents’ loved ones.
A dedicated leader who listens to her community’s needs.
Brenda Kwan

For more than 20 years, Brenda Kwan has been a dedicated volunteer with the Sino-Québec Centre of South Shore, supporting seniors and newcomers.
As president of Man Sau, an organization serving seniors, she also helps reduce isolation, improve access to services and build connections within her community. Through singing, French classes, tai chi and visits, she creates opportunities for connection, learning and healthy aging.
A heartfelt commitment to well-being and lasting connections.
Dedication Worth Celebrating
These three stories remind us that helping others takes many forms. Building partnerships and offering support, championing a long-term project or creating opportunities to come together can make a difference in people’s lives.
Tel-Aide Montréal warmly thanks Linda Bambonye, Manon Barbe and Brenda Kwan for their dedication and congratulates them on being named finalists.
The recipient of the 2026 Janette-Bertrand Wellness Award will be announced on November 5 at the TAM-TAM DON benefit evening at the Mount Stephen.
